Teaching objectives

Prepare for and take the PRINCE2® Agile® Practitioner exam

Certification
A] For an in-person course, the certification exam is held on the final afternoon. The official book "PRINCE2 Agile®" (ISBN: 9780113314676) is provided in hard copy for the exam. B] For a remote learning course, a voucher is provided to take the exam online at some point after the session. The official PDF e-book is provided. It is recommend that you have a PC for the exam and another device (smartphone, tablet, laptop) to read the official PDF e-book (Adobe Digital Editions installed). You can print out the official e-book for the sake of convenience. The PRINCE2 Agile® Practitioner exam is a 2.5 hour exam in English: Up to 50 multiple-choice questions each worth 1 point. Passing grade: 60%, or 30/50.

Exam
Upon successful completion of the PRINCE2 Agile® Practitioner certification, participants will earn 21 Professional Development Units (PDUs).
Teaching methods
Intensive training for the exam. Approximately two hours of extra reading/work are required outside of class time for optimal preparation.

  • What is PRINCE2 Agile®?
  • Agile between project mode and operational activities.
  • Definition of agile.
  • Agile methods: Agile Manifesto, Scrum, Kanban, Lean, XP, SAFe, DSDM/Agile PM, DevOps, Crystal.
  • PRINCE2®: principles, themes and processes.
Exercise
Evaluate the five PRINCE2 Agile® recommended behaviors by importance.

Basic concepts of agile project management

  • Iterative and incremental development.
  • Scrum: roles, artifacts, events.
  • Planning: “timeboxing”. Deliverable-oriented planning.
  • Estimating: point scoring, Fibonacci sequence, “T-shirt”.
  • Progress: burn-down and burn-up graphs.
  • Kanban: Kanban Board, Cumulative Flow Diagram
  • Lean start-up: fail fast, Minimum viable product (MVP).
Storyboarding workshops
Questions on agile management concepts.

Management principles, themes, processes and products

  • Principles of PRINCE2® and agility.
  • Performance aspects: variables, constants and priority management.
  • Processes: business case, complexity assessment ("cynefin"). Frequent deliveries. Contracts. Retrospective.
  • Management products: flexibility, formality.
  • Managing requirements: user story. Priority management (MoSCoW).
  • Quality management: DoD (Definition Of Done). DoR (Definition Of Ready). Quality review.
  • Testing strategy: Test Driven Development, Business Driven Development.
Exercise
Writing user stories and identifying priorities with MoSCoW.

  • Team structure and characteristics.
  • Adapting the role of the project manager and the leader.
  • Communication: workshop, daily stand-up, visual management, customer feedback.
